AEG is a brand that is part of the AB Electrolux Group and the services covered by these terms are provided by Electrolux Plc, Registration No: 2331516.
Our products are manufactured with the utmost care. Nevertheless, a small number of appliances may require a visit from a Repair Service Technician. Our Repair Partners will repair your appliance both in and outside of warranty. In warranty repairs are free of charge, out of warranty repairs are subject to a Fixed Fee or may be eligible for a Protection Plan provided by our partners at Domestic and General Ltd.
This document details what is eligible for a free of charge repair within warranty.
The term “warranty” includes the 1-year statutory legal warranty that is provided with all appliances. We also provide an extended 2-year warranty (inclusive of the 1-year legal warranty) on registered AEG appliances, with selected models being eligible for 5 years warranty on registration (inclusive of the 1 year legal warranty).
Extended warranties are not available for graded appliances or appliances used in a semi-commercial environment (see below for further details).
Details of your warranty should be provided with your appliance. If not, please refer to our website www.AEG.co.uk, or please speak to our team on 03445 611 611 (UK) or 081 854 3000 (Ireland) who will be happy to help. We provide warranty according to the following conditions:
The below conditions apply to the 1-year legal warranty, and the 2-year and 5-year extended warranties.
1) We will rectify, without charge, subject to the conditions 2 to 19, defects in the product which are clearly attributable to material and/or manufacturing faults, provided that they are reported within the warranty period.
2) The warranty period commences on the date of delivery to the end user, unless installed in a newly built home in which case it commences the first day the property is occupied.
3) The appliance will be repaired free of charge and will be returned in the condition it was in before the defect occurred. Defective parts will be repaired or replaced. Replaced parts pass into our ownership.
4) We highly recommend notifying us as soon as you are aware of a defect to prevent possible further damage.
5) The purchase receipt with purchase and/or delivery date must be presented to the technician before the repair is started. In the absence of this, other evidence may be requested.
6) If ownership of the appliance is transferred to another party, for example; you are a new resident of a property and the appliance is fitted in to the home, or the appliance was gifted, sold or inherited, then we ask, where possible, that the original purchase documentation is retained for inspection, if required by the technician.
7) It is required that technicians are given reasonable access when attending to the appliance.
8) The warranty does not cover:
a. damage to fragile parts, such as glass, plastics and rubber, or consumable items such a light bulbs;
b. minor deviations from the stated quality that are insignificant for the value or fitness of the product;
c. damage caused by:
i. chemical and electrochemical effects of water;
ii. abnormal environmental conditions;
iii. improper use of the product’
iv. contact with unsuitable materials; or
v. inappropriate operating conditions;
d. defects caused by:
i. transport damage incurred for which we are not responsible;
ii. non-professional installation or assembly,
iii. misuse;
iv. failure to observe the installation and operating instructions;
v. use in a non-domestic environment; or
vi. improper or poor maintenance not in accordance with the instruction manual.
9) The warranty is no longer valid if the defect was caused by repairs or interventions by third party repair agents that are not authorised by AEG, or when the product is fitted with accessories or parts that are not original and could have caused the defect.
10) We reserve the right to invalidate the warranty if the product has served as a showroom or demonstration model prior to purchase. Ex-demonstration appliances will be deemed as graded, therefore are eligible for the 1 year legal warranty.
11) If, within the warranty period, the repair of the same defect repeatedly fails or the reparation costs are disproportionate, an equivalent model will be sourced for replacement and will be provided in consultation with the owner. We are not obliged to provide a replacement which matches other appliances in the household. In case of replacement, we reserve the right to charge a fee in proportion to the period of use already enjoyed.
12) A repair carried out under the warranty does not extend or renew the term of the warranty, nor sets in motion a new warranty period.
13) Appliance repairs may or may not require the fitting of spare parts. Our commitment is to return the appliance to good working order, therefore spare parts do not have an independent guarantee. If on the rare occasion, the appliance has a recurring fault, (a fault which displays the same symptoms as a repair carried out previously) our team will handle this on a case by case basis.
14) Further or other claims, in particular compensation for consequential or associated losses, are excluded to the extent permitted by law.
15) These conditions apply to products purchased and/or in use in the United Kingdom and Ireland. If a product is purchased abroad, the user must ensure that the product complies with the technical conditions (e.g. voltage, frequency, installation instructions, gas, climate conditions) in the respective country. Necessary or desirable modifications in order to meet the technical conditions for the UK and Ireland are not covered by the warranty.
16) The warranty does not affect your statutory rights or the obligations of your retailer and your contract with them.
17) Customers are not entitled to any further claims or claims other than those specified under this warranty.
18) We reserve the right to void the warranty terms in the event of physical or verbal abuse towards any member of staff.
19) We reserve the right to charge for repair work carried out and any spare parts supplied within the Warranty period, which are not covered by the Warranty terms.
Graded Appliances
We work with authorised re-workers who supply graded appliances (faulty and damaged appliances which are repaired for resale).
Graded appliances are eligible for a 1-year warranty, although if there is a fault with the appliance in the first 30 days, the supplier should be contacted.
Graded appliances are not eligible for promotional extended warranties.
Our authorised graded suppliers in the United Kingdom are:
· Megan Appliances Ltd, Trading as Megan Appliances
· Washcraft Appliances (U.K.) Ltd, Trading as Kingdom Appliances
· SecondTek Ltd, Trading as All Your Appliances
If you have purchased a graded appliance from a different reseller, these are not covered by the warranty. You can arrange for an AEG technician to visit using one of our chargeable repair services.
We do not currently partner with authorised re-workers in the Republic of Ireland.
