Last updated 07/05/2024 09:26

Issue

  • Smell of gas around appliance: Possible gas leak

Applies to

  • Freestanding gas cooker,
  • Dual fuel cooker with gas

Resolution

Modern Electrolux / AEG / Zanussi gas appliances are very safe and feature many clever safety cut-outs and protection devices to ensure the supply of gas is shut off if for instance the flame is blown out.

If you do think you smell gas from around the appliance, it is more likely to be linked with the installation, possibly a connection, or fitting. Any potential gas leak or smell of gas should be investigated urgently. If possible, turn off the gas supply at the meter and call:

0800 111 999

The local gas supplier will come out and test it free of charge. If a leak is found, the supplier will turn off the gas and you will need to contact a registered installer to fix the leak.
