Issue

  • Clothes are still wet at the end of the drying cycle

Applies to

  • Tumble dryers

Resolution

Our current range of tumble dryers have both Sensor and Timed settings on them, so choosing the correct program for your drying is important.

Timed Drying or Automatic Drying

If you are finishing off clothes in the dryer that have been dried on a clothesline or clotheshorse, or if the load is very small we recommend you use Timed Drying:

  • Select the fabric type on the control panel that you are drying, such as Cotton or Synthetics
  • Press the Timed Dry option. 10 minutes will appear on the digital display
  • To increase the duration of the Drying Program press the Time Dry button until the display reads the duration you want (each time you press the Time Dry button the duration increases by 10 minutes, up to a maximum of 2 hours).
  • Press Start
  • The tumble dryer will now dry for the amount of time you have selected.
  • Note: For a list of programs that you can use Timed Drying on please refer to your user manual.

Automatic Drying Programs are great when you are putting your laundry into the tumble dryer straight away after being washed in the washing machine.

  • Ensure that you have the correct size load in the tumble dryer for the program (the maximum load per cycle can be found in the user manual).
  • Select the fabric type you are drying on the control dial, such as Cotton, Synthetics or Delicates.
  • Choose the dryness required for each load, for example, Cottons Extra Dry is great for items that you want very dry after the drying cycle. Cottons Iron Dry will be suitable for items you wish to iron after tumble drying and will be slightly damp at the end of the drying cycle (to make ironing easier). The dryness level option will be found either on the control dial or in the Options area of the control panel.
  • When you choose the Automatic Drying program the duration of the drying program will appear on the display, this can change during the drying program as the tumble dryer will use sensor technology to dry the clothes correctly without overdrying.

Other things to check if your clothes are still damp at the end of the drying program:

Check if the “water tank full” indicator is lit.

  • The appliance will stop the cycle if the water tank is full.
  • Empty the tank and restart the cycle.

Check the fluff filter is clean before the drying cycle. Refer to the article: Cleaning tumble dryer filters and condenser

  • The fluff filter is found at the bottom of the door opening of the dryer, pictured below

Unload the Dryer soon after the program has finished

Ensure the dryer is not overloaded, the maximum weight of clothes that can be dried on each program is listed in your user manual.
